There are sections of Taylor roads that consist only of gravel and dirt. There are meetings, concerns, discussion by City leaders, etc. But this is an old and ongoing issue. Discussions of roads, how to pick which to improve and how to pay for such a venture is a constant theme for both cities and counties.
There are no easy answers. Many folks live on awful streets, others are beginning to see the heaving and dips on what were good streets. It seems the only answer is to find funds and be as fair as possible about which of our roads gets attention first.
The article here is from 1923–a meeting announced to again discuss streets and how to pay for them with bond money. Hey, they did offer a box supper. Maybe that would bring out a lot more folks to street meetings this summer, June & July 2014.
